You know, I am a big fan of Guinness. The beer. Also on the book with all the faces, you know what I mean. And it happens that today, when I signed in to that thing, the Guinness people had put up a note that, basically, said that today’s a good day for a Guinness.

I’m having a large cup of milk tea as I write this, but just because it’s so bloody cold. Otherwise, I’d totally be drinking a Guinness right now.

Anyhoo, that got me thinking, and I can actually remember the first and second pints of Guinness I have ever bought. Bought, not drank, and here’s why:

First was back in 2000, on a school trip to Poland. From Finland. On a bus. Thus far, for the couple of years it had been legal for me to drink, I’d either drunk ciders or hard liquor. No beers. But small bars in that area, they basically served beer. And Guinness was the only one I knew by name. So I bought one. Sipped it once, didn’t like it. Another sip, and decided I really didn’t like it. Gave it to a classmate who probably thought Yay, free beer! \o/ and drank it.

From 2004 onwards, I made it my business to learn to drink beer. Hey, it’s cheap. By the time I moved to Great Britain at the end of 2007, I was well familiar with light beers. In August 2008, after I’d quit my job there, I stayed in London for a few days. And on 22nd August I was wandering around Whitechapel, not entirely by accident, and found myself in Ten Bells, very much not by accident, an old pub where, for example, Jack the Ripper’s victims used to drink back in 1888.


Resting my weary feet there, I thought it was time for me to give Guinness another chance. And I found I quite liked it. Hence the earlier admission of fanhood.

Out of tea now, so maybe it really is time for Guinness!

No, ainakin omaksi muistinavuksi... In the Yeaaaaaar Twoo Thousaaaaaaaaaand... and eleven.

Taas se aika vuodesta!

1. Mitä sellaista teit vuonna 2011 mitä et ole ajatellut tekeväsi aiemmin?
En kyllä muista että olisin tehnyt mitään uutta jännää... tämä alkaa hyvin!

2. Piditkö uudenvuodenlupauksesi, ja teetkö enemmän ensi vuodelle?
Lupasin piirtää ja kirjoittaa enemmän. Laskujeni mukaan kirjoitin ~300 sivua pelkästään tarinoita, plus hahmotutkielmia, haastatteluja ja muuta jännää kyseisiin tarinoihin liittyen melkein yhtä paljon. Eli ainakin kirjoitin enemmän. Piirsinkin aika paljon. 2012 päätin piirtää loppuun 2011 aloittamani sarjakuvan, hankkia uuden työn, ja nauttia elämästä.

3. Synnyttikö kukaan läheisesi?
Kyllä, kaksikin!

4. Kuoliko kukaan läheisesi?
Ei onneksi.

5. Missä maissa kävit?
Briteissä, Lontoossa ja Stonehengellä, Viron Tallinnassa ja Ruotsin Tukholmassa. Sekä Turussa. Lasketaanko se? Ainakin mietin sinne mennessä ihan tosissani että olisiko pitänyt vaihtaa rahaa. Olin kyllä vähän väsy ja krapulassa...

6. Mitä sellaista haluaisit vuonna 2012, jota puuttui vuodesta 2011?
Vähemmän töitä. :p

7. Mitkä vuoden 2011 päivämäärät tulet aina muistamaan ja miksi?
4.3., 8.3., 1.4., 19 & 21.7., 23.9., 11.11, 6.12. ja 31.12. Keikkoja ja synttäreitä ja matkoja sun muuta kivaa.

8. Mikä oli suurin saavutuksesi tänä vuonna?
Kaikki kirjoittamani... pasha. Sekä sarjakuvaprojektini. Se tosin on vielä pahasti kesken.

9. Mikä oli suurin epäonnistumisesi?
Olen yhä samassa paikassa töissä, josta vähän alle vuosi sitten vannoin, etten toista joulua tuon talon palveluksessa vietä.

10. Kärsitkö sairauksista tai vammoista?
Perusflunssaa. Kipeä jalka enemmän tai vähemmän kipeä silloin tällöin. Niin, ja alaselkä rikki.

11. Mikä oli paras asia, jonka ostit?
Lentoliput Lontooseen? Uusi tietokone? Skanneri/tulostin? Kauheasti suklaata?

12. Kenen käytös herätti hilpeyttä?
Viime kesästä lähtien, kaikkien ketkä painavat auton tms. äänimerkkiä. *tirsk* Sekä pomojen.

13. Kenen käytös masensi?
Ihmisten joista miun itse pitäs jo tietää paremmin. Ei pitäisi uskoa. Ei vaan tyhmä opi. Niin, ja pomojen.

14. Mihin käytit suurimman osan rahoistasi?
Uuteen tietokoneeseen ja Lontoon reissuun. Reissun sain jo maksettua, tietokonetta taidan maksella vielä pitkälle tämän vuotta. Mutta on se sen arvonen.

15. Mistä olit oikein, oikein, oikein innoissasi?
Kesälomasta! Eka palkallinen oikea kesäloma sitten vuoden 2007. Sekä The Arkin, Rufus & Martha Wainwrightin ja Patrick Wolfin keikoista. Sekä Italian ystävien näkemisestä liiiiiian pitkästä aikaa.

16. Mikä laulu tulee aina muistuttamaan sinua vuodesta 2011?
No ainakin Patrick Wolfin Together ja Time of my life, sekä Kansasin Carry on wayward son. Tuli katsottua AIKA paljon Supernaturalia. Kunniamaininnan saa Maroon 5:n Moves like Jagger, joka yhdessä vaiheessa soi töissä keskusradiossa KAKSI KERTAA TUNNISSA USEAMMAN PÄIVÄN AJAN, ennen kuin joku vaivautui tekemään asialle jotain. Niskavillat nousee pystyyn kun kuuluu Uu-uuu-uuu-uuuuuu Muuuuves like Jagger!

17. Viime vuoteen verrattuna, oletko:
a) onnellisempi vai surullisempi? Molempia.
b) laihempi vai lihavampi? Samoissa mitoissa.
c) rikkaampi vai köyhempi? ...samoissa mitoissa.

18. Mitä toivoisit tehneesi enemmän?
Piirsin paljon, ja kirjoitin paljon mutta ei nuita voi tehdä liikaa. Olisi ollut kiva hengata ulkoilmassa enemmän. Tämän vähyyteen vaikutti työ, kesäflunssa ja helteet sekä ihan puhdas laiskuus. Ja se että tuo sarjakuvaprojekti vei aika suuren osan vapaa-ajasta. Siitä on paras tulla jotain...

19. Mitä toivoisit tehneesi vähemmän?
...töitä. Joo on se kiva kun saa palkkaa, mutta gaah.

20. Kuinka vietit joulua?
Paremman puoliskon kanssa oltiin vanhempieni luona. Syötiin ja juotiin ja poltettiin joulusikarit. Katseltiin paljon Simpsoneita ja syötiin vähän lisää.

23. Kuinka monta yhdenyön juttua?
Ei yhtään. En edelleenkään sellaisia harrasta.

24. Mikä oli suosikki tv-ohjelmasi?
Misfits! Ja Dexter. Mutta lähinnä Misfits.

25. Vihaatko nyt ketään, jota et vihannut viime vuonna tähän aikaan?
Viha lienee liian vahva sana and it’s bad for the soul, mutta kyllä.

26. Mikä oli paras lukemasi kirja?
George R. R. Martinin Song of Ice and Fire –epiikki. Josta siis luin heinäkuusta lähtien ensimmäiset kolme kirjaa. Sniikejä hahmoja ja yllättäviä juonenkäänteitä vaikka muille jakaa.

27. Mikä oli suurin musiikillinen löytösi?
Patrick Wolf. Löysin myös uudestaan The Arkin, joiden jäähyväiskeikalla kävin maaliskuussa. Mutta herra Wolf oli hieno löytö. Tuli myös nähtyä livenä.

28. Mitä halusit ja sait?
Uuden tietokoneen, joulupukin tuomat kirjat sekä DVD-paketti.

29. Mitä halusit muttet saanut?
Uuden työn. Sitä olisi kyllä pitänyt hakea saadakseen, mutta ei tullut paljoa hakemuksia laiteltua.

30. Mikä oli suosikkileffasi viime vuonna?
Näin vasta joskus syyskuussa ensimmäistä kertaa elämässäni My Own Private Idahon, ja siitä pidin. Ja se ensimmäisenä mieleen tuli. Pidin myös paljon Tintti-elokuvasta.

31. Mitä teit syntymäpäivänäsi ja kuinka vanha olit silloin?
Mitä tein? Lähdettiin paremman puoliskon kanssa vanhemmilta Helsinkiin päin, veljen kämpän kautta. Luin loppuun Angels in American. Tilattiin pitsat. Taisin just silloin alottaa uudelleen Dragon Age 2:n. Ikää ei tässä vaiheessa ole enää kohteliasta kysyä...

32. Mikä yksi asia olisi tehnyt vuodestasi mittaamattomasti tyydyttävämmän?
Jos en olisi jatkuvasti hakannut päätä seinään töiden kanssa.

Hyvä työkaveri, parempi puolisko ja omat projektit sekä uusi pelikaveri.

Andrej Pejic! Kaunis, androgyyni huippumalli. Ja lähinnä siis ihkutin herran kauneutta.

Ei voi oikeasti Soinista tulla pääministeriä, eihän? Ei sentään. Pienellä kauhulla odotan presidentinvaaleja.

Mummoa, jonka kuolemasta tuli 10 vuotta täyteen syksyllä.

38. Kuka oli paras tapaamasi uusi ihminen?
Pelikaverini Seppo. Ekaa kertaa tavattiin jo vuuuuuosia sitten, mutta tutustuttiin nyt vasta paremmin.

The next chapter of Sun-kissed (in case anyone's still reading) is about half done. Just a few more scenes. But shit is going to hit the fan at work, until halfway through April, and other stuff's going on, so I'm making no promises about getting the chapter done in, say, two weeks/before April or anything like that.

It still amuses me that Blogger asks ME whether I'm sure I want to enter S-K when I'm signed in. Durr. It's my blog. I know what's in it. It's okay. You can let me in without asking.

I'm drunk. And slightly pink.

Hey, I actually updated Sun-kissed today! With an actual, ten-page-ish chapter! Woo. And it really was about fucking time. I was stuck with this chapter and where a part of the plot was heading for ages. Now I'm getting excited about it again, and am determined to finish part 2 within 2011

What else... work's been kicking my ass. I'm still pretty much doing the work of two+ people on my own day by day. But like I said before, there's a part-timer who's a huge help when she can come in, which isn't too often, since she's a university student, and school comes first, as it should! And I'm not just being nice because she might read this. I mean it. :D

Annywhoooooo... yes I am slightly drunk. On a Sunday evening. Shame on me. But you know, I just had a long, lovely hot pink bath (Lush! This bath thing turned the water piiiiink! I've had a sparkly golden and red and dark blue baths by them before. Lush is love.), two cold beers and good music and an excellent book to keep me company. Maybe I'll be able to face next week with all that. Usually, when I get home from work, I just enjoy the comforts of the wonder that is My Bed. Seriously. It is the beddest bed I've ever had. So soft and warm and pillowy and nice. Mmm. Collapsing upon it after a long day? Bliss. Even if I've been having really fucking weird dreams lately. But amusingly weird. Which is nice.

Other than that, I've been occupied since last September with these two guys that one day just popped up in my head. I'm planning on making a comic story (as in sequential art, not as in humorous, although it is part that, as well) out of their... story. First two pages are done, they've been done in my head ever since the beginning of September, but last week, with about half of the comic planned out (in my head, luckily), I decided to tell the story in a different way. So now I kinda have to work through the whole script. But that's no bad thing, really. I'm pretty excited about this thing, and am trying to tell people about it, if only so that someone might, at some point, ask how the comic is doing, and if I'm slacking, I will get a bad conscience and get to work again. Hey, don't laugh. It works for me! *nudge, nudge* It also works with writing!

It's also good to be working with more than one story at once, because if I get stuck with a story (like I was with S-K) I can just work on something else while I get unstuck, and since I'm writing and stuff, I'll get unstuck all the faster. However, this does not include work-work. That just makes me tired.

One last thing that ought to be mentioned: the Significant Other and I got a PlayStation 3 about a month ago! It is sweet. Her brother loaned us a few games, plus we got Dragon Age, which has been eating my soul more and more. It... probably is no surprise to anyone who knows me, that I made my first character a male one just so I could make him enjoy the privacy of his tent with the delightfully gay male elf rogue. Awwness. Now they're spending every minute at camp in their tent. Randy bastards.

Kyllä se taitaa kuitenkin olla Chuck Palahniukin Invisible Monsters. Luin sen ekan kerran helmikuussa ja silloin ei kovasti iskenyt. Nyt lukasin sen uusiksi, ja taisi nousta hlökohtaisella Palahniuk-listalla sijalle 2. Aivan paras. Toiseksi paras. Ei Lullabyn voittanutta.

27. Mikä oli suurin musiikillinen löytösi?
Tutustuin muutamaan uuteen bändiin, mutta eivät niin kolahtaneet kuin parin vanhan tutun uudet. Tai ’uudet’. Nimittäin nyt vasta kävin kuuntelemaan Dir en greyn Uroborosta, ja voi itku että se iski ja kovaa. Ware, yami tote vaan on niin vitun hieno laulu. Ja kovasti tyksin myös My Chemical Romancen uudesta. Na na na na na na na na na na na na na naa! Scissor Sistersin Night Work! Rufus Wainwrightilta tuli tietenkin myös uusi levy, joka on nautittava kokonaisuutena. Ja kokonaisuutena se on hieno. Mutta vaatii tietynlaisen mielentilan, joten en sitä ihan ykköseksi nosta tällä kertaa. Mutta ainoastaan tuon seikan takia.

28. Mitä halusit ja sait?
Aika paljonkin, mutta piti tehdä töitäkin haluamistensa eteen. Paitsi että nätin taskumatin sain joululahjaksi pelkästään pyytämällä.

29. Mitä halusit muttet saanut?
...niin paljon säästöjä ettei tarttis tehdä töitä, pienemmän perseen ja toisen asunnon jostaan ei näin vitun kylmästä, jossa voisi talven asua. Mutta elämä on.

30. Mikä oli suosikkileffasi viime vuonna?
Teatterissa nähdyistä Scott Pilgrim! Ihan kevyesti. Muista... taisin vasta nyt nähdä Boondock Saintsin. Voin sanoa että se ei todellakaan ollut Southland Tales, joka kateltiin vuoden viimeisenä yönä. Kaksi ja puoli tuntia totaalista wtf?

31. Mitä teit syntymäpäivänäsi ja kuinka vanha olit silloin?
Heräsin. Yskin keuhkon pihalle. Koristelin kakun. Kummipoika, äitinsä ja tämän äiti kävivät kylässä, samoin kummit poikansa perheen kanssa. Söin kakkua. Taisi olla se päivä jolloin tuli Velho ja Leijona telkkarista. Kattelin sen. Menin nukkumaan. Täytin ihan liikaa. Se on vielä vähän arka paikka, ei puhuta siitä.

32. Mikä yksi asia olisi tehnyt vuodestasi mittaamattomasti tyydyttävämmän?
...jos olisin täyttänyt vaikka vasta 20? Joo, on mulla pieni kriisi asiasta.

All moved in.

MySpace! It's a little bare, and the wallpaper is... well, at least it's not quite as loud as the wallpaper where I moved out of. But a new desk! A really really new desk! With a glass bit which I can use for drawing, and drawers, and red legs! Ikea. It's a scary place, but I do like this desk.

So, went to Prague last month with my girlfriend, who I'm living with now, after her previous roommate suddenly moved out. This place has more light, and is far closer to work, which is nice because it gives me more free time in the evenings, since I don't spend around an hour and a half on just getting home from work. Also, I can sleep half an hour more in the morning and still be at work in good time. Half an hour is a long time at that time of the night... I'm not a morning person.

Pretty much as soon as we got back, like three days later, my work colleague left for good, leaving me the only full-time slave in a position that requires at least two full-time people, preferably one part-time on top of that. There's a part-time worker, but with her school, she could only come to work a couple evenings a week. And did I mention that the biggest two-week sale came right after that? Which I had to pretty much organise? I was extremely surprised to make it through that alive, let alone with very few complaints! From the bosses, I mean. Complaints from me, there were plenty. I'm sure my friends were sick of the whining. But that's a week in the past now, and I can already be all stressed about organising christmas decorations around the shop. *headdesk*

TL;DR: Work is hell.

Is there anything else I should mention? It's been snowing, but the ground is still too warm/wet for it to really stick. It's too early for snow anyway. Hell, I'm still wondering what happened to summer. It was just here, wasn't it? And now we have to have all the xmas decorations up at work by the end of next week...

I'm having some sort of age crisis. It's just a number, I know. Nothing really changes when you hit a certain amount of years, I know, the change is gradual. Aging, I mean. But still. I've got a big birthday ahead of me in a few months, and I don't know if I should celebrate it or just hide under the bed with a big box of chocolate. With pretty much everyone I know spending the holidays abroad or with family or working, who to even celebrate with? Yeah, think I'll go with option B. Actually, that sounds like a very good idea for most days.

Ooh, almost ten in the evening, I can go to bed soon! And tomorrow, I can sleep in! Yay!

Yeah I've kind of forgotten I have a diary-like blog here too. But then again, I've been keeping a physical diary all year since I got one last xmas. Sooooo... hi. How've you been?

Everything is... scarily yellow outside. There better be one hell of a thunder storm coming, after the heat we've had for over a month now. Besides that, I've got a steady job. A girlfriend. Am looking for a place to live on my own, possibly, instead of here with the roommate, since living here means sitting in a bus for 2-3 hours per day to get to work and back. Going to Prague next month, yayness! And that yellowness outside is really creeping me out now. Like it's lurking right over my shoulder.

Heh, ei kyllä äkkiseltään tule mitään erikoista päivää mieleen. Synttärit oli aika ikimuistoiset...

Muutin Espooseen. Oli se jonkinasteinen saavutus. =D

Hmm. Sanotaan se etten piirtänyt ja kirjoittanut niin paljon kuin olisin halunnut. Kuten viime vuonna.

11. Mikä oli paras asia, jonka ostit?

2009 oli eeppisten hajoamisten vuosi: rikki menivät kannettava tietokone, kännykkä, KAKSI mp3-soitinta, kahdet kengät (toiset melko kalliit), kalliit ja ennen kaikkea hyvät kuulokkeet, cd-soitin, ja en näille silmälaseillekaan kovin pitkää elämää mene povaamaan. Melkein kaikille piti korvike ostaa, mikä lienee sitten paras asia niistä.

12. Kenen käytös herätti hilpeyttä?
Ihanien työkavereiden.

13. Kenen käytös masensi?
Työkkärin. Tosin olihan se odotettavissa, että kun löytyy oikeasti kiva työpaikka, niin ei siellä saa jatkaa...

Ihan kylmästi kirjoihin ja sarjakuviin. Ja noiden hajonneiden asioiden korvaamiseen. :L

Uudesta työpaikasta. Mutta oli paljon pieniä päiviä joista oli sillai pienemmästi oikein, oikein innoissaan.

IHQ!

Niin sitä vaan ajattelin ihkuttaa, että lähikirjastossa on paras sarjakuvakokoelma kaikista kirjastoista joissa olen elämäni aikana asioinut. :hjärtta: Viikko sitten maanantaina hain vihdoin kirjastokortin, töissä ollessa kun lukemista oli riittämiin, ja tässä reilun viikon aikana olen kolmesti jo käynyt lainaamassa, joka kerta kaksi kassillista sarjakuvia, ja vielä on jäänyt monta hyllyihin odottamaan seuraavaa kertaa. Cerebuksesta on noin puolet, pääsen sitä vihdoin lukemaan (kymmenisen vuotta ollut jo 'toivelistalla'), Alan Moorea, Preacheria (vaikka se onkin kokonaan jo omana! Mutta Kotkassa.) ja klassikoita kuten Jimmy Corrigan ja Will Eisneriä. Lastenosaston kokoelma on myös aika hieno, tuossa on pino Piko ja Fantasio -sarjiksia joita en ole ennen lukenut.

Yhtään kirjaa en vielä ole lainannut, ihan siitä syystä ettei noiden sarjisvuorien kanssa ole jaksanut kantaa. Chuck Palahniukin uusinkin löytyi, mutta se saa odottaa... jospa sen joskus saisi pokkarina omaksi.

Toinen ihkutettava juttu on että löysin tänään divarista aarteita. Martin Millarin Lonely Werewolf Girl -kirjan, joka on niitä harvoja Millarin kirjoja joita ei vielä hyllystä löytynyt. Jos ei lasketa Thraxas-kirjoja, joihin en ole tutustunut. Voisi niitäkin joskus lueskella. LWG on yllättävän paksu: muut hyllyssä olevat Millarit tuppaavat oleen korkeintaan 200-sivusia, mutta tämä paketti ylittää 500. ^^

Divarista löyty myös Ville Tietäväisen Linnut ja Meret, joka on (IMHO) kauneimmin piirretty suomalainen sarjakuva. In the world. Tarinakin on hieno, mutta tuo taide, ja ne vähäiset värit. Raks. Ihastuin siihen heti ensi lukemalla, ja nyt se on vihdoin omana. Näyttää LWG:n tavoin ihan iskemättömältä (mitä nyt divarin täti oli lätkässyt hintatarran ihan keskelle kantta (taitaa olla eka divarin täti jonka olen nähnyt, yleensä sedät pidelleet divareita. Tasa-arvoa, jee!)), mitä nyt nurkat hieman kärsineet. Hintaa sarjiksella oli viis euroa, ja kirjalla neljä.

In the musicals

Since I seem to have little energy to do anything and way too much time to think these days, I realised one day that most of my favourite musicals are somehow connected.

Let's start with Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim Curry does Frank fantastically in the movie, but the role has also been played on London stages by Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy), who is also in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Also in Repo! we see, and hear, the lovely Sarah Brightman, who was the first Christine in the Phantom of the Opera, the one Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the part for, somewhat thinking himself as the Phantom. Right, so Webber wrote the music for the Phantom, and also for Jesus Christ Superstar. Yay!

Mr. Head also sings in a few episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and especially in the musical episode Once more, with feeling! which is a special episode of a TV-series, as is the Lexx musical episode Brigadoom. Ok, so that's stretching it a bit thin. But that only leaves out Dancer in the Dark and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

I'm so tired but it's only nine in the evening... wahh. I've had Zydrate Anatomy from Repo! playing in my head all day long... I think I know the lyrics already.

Man, it has been a long time...

Tomorrow starts the last week of the best job I've ever had. It's good to know that work CAN be fun, even though it's a bitch having to start looking again.

Actually, I have been offered two jobs already, but... they are the jobs I've had before. Choosing between them is like choosing whether I want to die in a fire or by drowning. I'd really rather not.

But it has been a great summer, even though I've lived in an apartment in the middle of a huge plumbing ...thing. All the pipes are being changed in the whole building, and this is our sixth week without water. Not being able to cook, no problem. Microwave ovens exist. And hey, no need to do the dishes! Having to go to the toilet and shower in the public sauna downstairs, not much fun but doable. Not being able to do the laundry... problem.

The Dude abides, and I try to do the same. Without bowling.


(Just to remind myself: went LARPing last Saturday, which was kickass, and today took Undercity back for the Horde. Thrall and Sylvanas helped... a little. X) Who wants to live in reality all the time anyway...)

1. Who's your favorite character in #2? Ooh, tough one. I’ll go with David Fisher.

2. Who's your least favorite character in #1? MISTER Morden. One of the BEST scenes in the whole series is when he gets his comeuppance and Vir does his happy little wave.

3. What's your favorite episode of #4? I’ll say the last, two-part episode. Two Ray’s, Leslie Nielsen, Mounties… epic.

9. Who's your favorite actor/actress in #4? Paul Gross. He’s awesome. I don’t know how he manages to keep a straight face all the time. Also, buddy breathing.

The steady:
Final Fantasy VII. Seven years and counting. Always manages to throw something new at me, and I don’t mean the spin-offs. Some of those are good, some not. Zack is pure love.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets:
Lord of the Rings. We were quite tight during my early teens, then again about a decade ago, and it’s still nice to get together now and again.

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it:
Poison Elves. Why, Drew, why?! *bawl* Ok, maybe he wasn’t laughing, at least about his own death, but the heartache is there.

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy:
Hellsing. Still not quite over this one. I like fucking crazy things. With big, completely insane shit-eating grins full of sharp, sharp teeth.

Today has been quite interesting. For me, today started yesterday morning, since I didn't sleep between yesterday-today and today.

Went to see Nowkku and her man in the country (^^), and after I got home I started to feel really weak and dizzy. Figuring it was because I hadn't eaten any proper food that day, cooked some stuff which didn't have any taste in my mouth, despite putting a lot of salt and half a bottle of ketchup on it. In stead of feeling better, I felt worse, so I went to lie down and finished watching the fourh season of Babylon 5.

Apparently, I had managed to catch a stomach bug from somewhere. =p And if I'm sick, even just a little bit, I can't sleep. At all. I tried, but no success, so I thought to spend the long night doing something productive, like finishing a drawing I was doodling while watching B5. A fantasy picture of a dragon and its rider. I have a problem with drawing dragons: I ALWAYS forget to draw their wings. I still have several old pictures which have been drawn, inked and coloured before I realised that the damn things do not have wings even though they are flying. So I was giggling a little to myself while drawing, wondering whether I'd remember the wings this time.

3:20 in the morning, once I was ready with the rider, and started to ink the dragon, only to notice that the BLOODY THING DOES NOT HAVE ITS WINGS. That was easily rectified, though, and after finishing that picture, I did another one, and this time remembered the damn wings.

Come morning, I scanned the pictures so that I could add a little colour in PhotoShop, only to finally see the HORRIBLE mistake made with the damn wings. Painfully horrible. Poor dragon. All those hours spent on it, and it's so bad it can't even be fixed. (The second picture's not so horribly deformed, even if it has its fair share of mistakes. Drawing while sick and sleep-deprived is not such a good idea.)

But at least the stomach bug is going away. Yay!

Another thing that has to be mentioned: I GOT THE JOB! Weeeeeeee! It's a trainee position so I'll be going over to the unemployment agency tomorrow (or Friday if the bug's still bothering me tomorrow) to get all the papers that need to be filled. Paperwork. Yay. And then next Tuesday I'm going over to fill them, and figure out all the details. On Tuesday, because the shop's not open on Mondays. I get to work in a shop full of comics and music AND I don't have to work on Mondays! Sweet! It's also a part of the job to read as many comics as possible. The pay won't be great, but after two horrid jobs, I'm looking forward to doing something I'm (hopefully!) going to enjoy. And it's not like those other jobs paid well, either. In fact, I STILL haven't gotten all of my pay from the gig in England.

Wow, that's a lot of text. The subject line is because I'm writing this not to fall asleep right here. Already did, my hand still on the mouse, scrolling down a page. X) Kind of tired, but trying to stay awake until a sensible bedtime, so that I won't be up all of this night as well.

Coming and going

So, Italy was last week. It was HOT, especially in Milano, so we spent a few lovely days up in the nearby mountains where the weather was just excellent, as was the company.


Then we spent a day in Lecco, a small town by the lake Como. Then back to Milano, and on Friday I was flying home.

As soon as I got into Helsinki I met up with a friend who informed me on quite an interesting job opportunity in the capital, and as soon as I got to a computer, I sent out an application. And lo and behold, I'm going for a job interview on this Friday!

It's a trainee position so the pay won't probably be that great, but I really want to check it out, since it would pretty much be a dream job. I am aware I said the same about the last job, in England, which turned out to be a bloody nightmare, but ya hafta try, right? This job involves comics, it can't be all bad.

So I'll probably be heading out to Helsinki again tomorrow, as my current boss is driving there and promised to give me a lift. He just doesn't know why I need to get to Helsinki... he he.

Been drawing quite a lot (not many pictures but quite detailed ones) in the last few days and even wrote a little of Sun-kissed, so maybe I'm getting out of that pit of apathy little by little. I damn well hope so, it's a miserable place and I don't like it.

Apathy

You know, I haven't written anything storywise since February. It's somewhat frustrating. Haven't really drawn anything in a long while either. Finding it hard to find inspiration or reason to do either. I'm hoping it will pass soon.

At least I'm still reading, got a lot of books waiting in a pile for their turn. And I'm flying to Italy this Sunday to see a friend I've not seen since July 2007, so it's been way too long. Maybe the change of scenery will do some good.

So that's what's been up with me. Not a lot. We had a small thunderstorm today: first of the spring. They don't usually come this early here, and all I heard was one long, loud rumble. But still, I guess it means summer's on its way. It looks pretty outside. Would like to go out, but can't be arsed.

Pretty little things

I did some things over the Easter holiday (and earlier) with strings and sets of beads and metal bits and whatnots for jewellery making. Selvemmin sanottuna, Suomalaisesta ostin viime vuonna (mutta on niitä vieläkin näkynyt) tuollasia koruntekosettejä, jossa on lukkoja, korvakoruja ja niihin pujoteltavia helmiä, ja näillä askartelinpaskartelin.



Earrings. The pearl I won at some jewellery lottery thing years ago. The blood drop bead is attached to an old earring, and the green one is greeeeeen.



Bracelets made from the beads in the sets. Selitän suomeksi kun en osaa. Helmet on siis pujotettu seteissä mukana tulleeseen ohueeseen metalli...juttuun. Ei ole suomenkielikään tänään hallussa. Oi voi.

The beads were strung haphazardly while watching Top Gear's Vietnam special. So I was kind of distracted...



And a picture of the bead bracelets and friendship bracelets I started to make a couple of weeks ago when my computer died the last time. Those thick ones took only 30-45 minutes a bop, the string was so thick. Now if I only learned to do other patterns beside the straight lines, properly.

So I'm not just sitting on my ass all day, waiting for it to get fatter! :>
