This. Is. SPARTA!

The neighbourhood the bosses live and work in (and me as well, unfortunately...) is known as rich. Here, the houses do not have numbers. They have names. And today one of them caused me great amusement as I walked to the village in the morning. You see, during my very-and-altogether-too-short holiday in Finland N and I watched 300, and the joke version of it, Meet the Spartans. Unfortunately we watched the joke one first and therefore spent the actual movie laughing as well. And what made me laugh this morning was realizing (and remembering) that one of the houses along the road is called Sparta. ^^

...and that's been pretty much the high point of my first week here. It's terribly hot, no wind, flies everywhere, too much work to do, not enough free time etc. etc. etc......... you get the idea. Also, I do not want to be here.

My boss is a photographer, among other things. He hasn't taken any picture of me before, but yesterday, as I was waving a scythe at some nettles and hay, sweaty all over, wearing my most torn pants ever, a dirty shirt and covered in dirt, he suddenly tells me to turn around and takes a photo. Then makes fun of me because I have fat cheeks.

=(

He also finds it greatly amusing to poke at my stomach and watch it wibble.

What else... I really dislike Garfield. Davis has admitted that he created the comic just to make money, and has kept on doing it only for money. Trust me, Jim, IT SHOWS. But this:

THIS is great. Heh.

Should get to writing Sun-kissed eventually... as if I'm gonna get enough time off from work to do any proper writing. But eh, three more weeks, tops. I HAVE to be back in Finland by the 26th of August, and my intention is to go home well before that. Stop in London for a few days on the way, heh. Now, if we only could get STARTED with the bloody urgent work I came here to do... but it's not our end that's causing the hold-up. So nothing we can do but wait. And work on other shit. Stuff. Shit. Which ever. Whatever.

Hee. Sparta.

Back in the UK again...

...and I want to go home already. Well, ever since I got back to work, really. Ehh, it's not so bad, I guess, but it takes a while to get used to all this shit again. I had rather hoped (and prayed and wished and sacrificed a few virgins) that I wouldn't ever have to get used to this again. But I guess this means I can take another holiday in London before I go home. Whenever that will be.

So, second day here, and I've already fallen from a tree. Luckily I was only about six foot from the ground, and the branches below slowed my fall quite nicely. It must have been the slowest falling-from-a-tree ever. I was laughing by the time my ass hit the ground. What was I doing in the tree? Trying to pull down these weed-like things that grow all the way up in it. Because that's the kinda stuff you get to do in this job while there's nothing else to do. Wahey.

Sorry, I'm quite cranky. Want to go home. Bleh.

Umm, but I had a lovely time in Finland. Saw two of my dearest friends, my bro, parents and even a cousin. Drew one picture. Heh. Played a lot of Crisis Core. Didn't get any writing done.

Yesterday was kinda odd. Woke up extremely cranky a six, so that I could catch a bus to the airport after seven. I've never been less excited to fly. I love to fly! But yesterday the only thought on my mind started with 'f' and rhymed with duck. At least until I got to the gate.

The flight was overbooked, so I had been asked if I wouldn't mind volunteering to taking a later flight (2hrs later). I agreed, and that's what happened. There were two other volunteers, girls about my age. The two hours went by quickly, chatting with one of them and playing more CC. The flight also passed quickly since I was sitting next to that same girl, and we were chatting some more. Which was nice.

The earth below seemed completely covered with clouds, but they opened up a little when we got close to Britain, and gave us a marvellous view of London as the plane circled over it, waiting for permission to land. It was beautiful. The rest of the trip here went well, and now it's back to work work work. Hopefully not for too long, though.

I think that's it for now. Bye bye pretties!

Honey, I'm home!

Yay! Arrived at home last Monday evening, safely and more or less in one piece. Unfortunately I have no net connection at home, I'm updating this at N's place while she's in the sauna. Hee. ^^ I've got about ten pages worth of text on my short holiday in London, but that'll have to wait for another time. And really, I doubt anyone will want to know all the details, so I'll just write up a short account.

Last week was supposed to be my last at that job, but as several unexpected things happened, I reluctantly agreed to go back for a few weeks. Next Monday.

...

That gives me a week's holiday here at Finland. Almost three of those days are already gone. But at least the bosses are paying for the flights. And maybe this week off will be enough to make me last a few more over there. Few more very busy weeks, I'm afraid.

Sun-kissed will most likely not update this week; I can surely say it will not update on time, since Wednesday is already almost over. I've barely started Wednesdays chapter. I know what happens in it, but haven't had time to write it. It will update as soon as I can manage finishing it. Sorry! But as I've not seen my friends and family in about seven months, and won't see them again for a while, I'm afraid writing, no matter how much I love it, will have to take backseat for a while.

In summary, London was brilliant and stole my heart again, going back to UK next week, now having a movie night with my best friend. Back later!

It's the final countdown!

Hello boys and girls! Less than 48 hours now until my work here is done. Wahey! May be that next time I get to write here will be from Finland. Hee. Home sweet home.

After yesterday I can add electrician to the list of things I've been here. And the boss said I could try rewiring a wall socket today. Ooooooooooookay then. Under his supervision, of course. He also said that by the time I'm forty, I should be able to beat any man with the skills I've learned here. Bah. I'd say by the time I'm 30! Considering that I've done pretty much everything here from plumbing to building a computer. Still need to learn to fix a car, but I doubt I'll get a chance to do that within today and tomorrow. And certainly not on their Daimler! ;)

I should probably start packing soon. Going to do laundry tonight, so after that. Eek! Take care, everyone!

Miiidniiiiight, all alone in the computer roooooooom

It's 1 o'clock really, almost bedtime, but since I'm on the computer...

Friday was interesting... *cough* it was my 200th day here! The day I leave is #206, so almost there. Just over 80 hours. Yes, I'm a tiny bit excited.

The 'new' girl left on Saturday after she had a small accident on Friday. Nothing serious, but her parents wanted her home and since they were the ones to pay for her ticket, home she went.

Also, had a strange encounter on Friday evening. I was taking some waste water out to the bonfire on the backyard (thanks to all the gardening we've done, the pile for the bonfire is the size of a small house). As I got close to it I noticed some movement right by the bonfire. A little teeny weeny bunny, just sitting there, eating a leaf with its eyes closed. I froze immediately, not wanting to scare it. I think it hadn't noticed me, since it just carried on eating. I lowered my bucket of water to the ground and got down on my hands and knees. The bunny still had its eyes closed as I crawled closer. Only when I was so close that I could have reached out and touched it, it jumped away. But just a few inches. I moved closer, it jumped a few more inches.

Odd. Usually the rabbits here (and there's so many of them they're a menace!) hop away from the slightest sign of human activity.

Humm ho, what else... four more mornings here. Four more times I will go to bed here. Eight more walkies with each dog. Four more times will I close the shutters in the evening.

Hee. Night night!

N, onnea haastatteluu! ^__^/
